W. Caslon au début du XVIIIe siècle : The Caslon Letter Foundry. Les police de caractère Calson old face avaient été gravées par William Calson il y a près de 200 ans. À ces 686 pages d'exemples, succède un catalogue des filets en laiton séparateurs (brass rules), ainsi que des meubles de rangement et machines (110 pages) suivi d'un index pour faciliter la recherche.Ce luxueux catalogue fut édité à l'occasion de l'emménagement, en 1911, dans un bâtiment construit spécialement pour l'entreprise, au 22 & 23 Chiswell Street. "At 22 and 23 Chiswell Street, William Caslon the First made for himself an enduring name as the first of British type-founders, thus winning fame not only for himself but for his country, which by his success attained to the leading position in the art. His type designs have never been surpassed. The original Caslon Old Face is to-day a greater favourite than ever among connoisseurs, and is invariably found in the finest examples of modern artistic printing.
