Illustrated with copper plates, some are fold outs. Wonderful insect and animal illustrations. The English translation of an earlier work on natural history by Noel Pluche (1688-1761). Consists of five sections, on insects, birds, terrestrial animals, fish, and plants. Each section contains fascinating descriptions of the subjects considered, and the book is illustrated with copper engravings some of which are fold outs. There is foxing and signs of age. Some illustrations have tears, however surprisingly this is a solid copy. The greatest flaw is the fact it is missing the back cover and the front cover is detached. This is a suitable copy for rebinding. We ship fast.
