Contemporary ownership signature Wm Benge 14th May 1770 with his stamp, scored out lightly, and then: Charlotte Benge given her by her dear mama, added below. Not a perfect set then, but priced accordingly as a pleasant study or reading copy, with of course the interesting early indication of female ownership.
