Eight volumes in calf leather; all dated 1757. Vol. 1 starts: No. 1 Thursday March 1, 1710-11 - vol. 8 (last) No. 635, Monday December 20 1714. Each vol. has b/w engraved illustrations on the title page. For the sake of brevity, the following comments apply to each volume - unless stated otherwise. The condition is generally sound for books of this age and therefore classed as FAIR. Volume Eight is so classed despite having a loosely attached rear board. Volume One, however, is assessed as POOR due to its detached front board (image). Spine: five raised bands; titles in gilt on the second band down from the head of the spine with the volume number beneath on band three. (NB. only the vol. Nos. for 4, 5,6 are completely legible). The leather boards have gilt (gold) ruled borders, bumped edges and corners. Internally: the pages are generally moderately tanned with occasional spotting; more evident on the preliminary and final ones. (Remarkable consistency/similarity across all eight volumes). Vol. 1 has notes in ink on ffep (image). Vols. 3-6 & 8 have ink signatures on ffep. Pagination v1-v8: pp. 458, 459, 454, 431, 432, 440, 479 & 400 (+ lengthy unpaginated index for all eight volumes). 120 x 310 mm. More photos available on request. Please note that because of the weight of this collection and, depending on destination, we are likely to request an additional payment to cover any extra shipping/postage charges.
