Spellcaster

Some cures cost more than you can bear to pay.

Sixteen-year-old Christine Daniel is dying, and no doctor in Victorian England can say why. The fevers and the agonizing pains come with visions of a boy running from a man who wants him dead. He calls out to her for help. Until she saves him, the visions will not stop, and neither will the illness.

It could not come at a worse time. Christine and her radiant older sister Allison are making their débuts in high society, and every drawing room is a marriage market. To find a boy she has only ever seen in visions, Christine needs the help of the one occultist in England who has not been driven into hiding. The occultist's price is steep. Christine must steer Allison into marriage with a charming, impoverished gentleman who is cruel beneath his manners. He is also the occultist's lover, and the pair mean to share Allison's fortune.

Betray her sister to a lifetime of misery, or let the visions kill her. What will Christine do to survive, and what is the survival worth?

A gripping blend of historical fiction, the occult, and sisterly loyalty, Spellcaster is for readers who love dark secrets in glittering ballrooms, and magic that always demands a sacrifice.
