Add to basketThe second of only seven published issues this short-lived leftist magazine founded at UC Berkeley and somewhat associated with the Free Speech Movement. An essay in this issue titled "To Kill a Fuckingword," which defended of a number of students arrested for obscenity, resulted UC Berkeley's administration banning the magazine on campus. The magazine s staff defiled the ban and this became one incident in what became known as the Filthy Speech Movement. Many of the original organizers of the 1964 Free Speech Movement refused to support this new movement and argued that it detracted from the original movement s focus on political speech. Other content includes articles on hard-boiled fiction, the chemical compounds of the Morning Glory, and educational counter-revolution; an interview with Mike Myerson, former SLATE chairman and member of the Berkeley DuBois Club; poetry; etc. Stapled, illustrated wrappers, 24 p., illus. A fine copy.
