About the Author
Patrick T. Finley is founder and chairman of OMNI Property Companies a conglomerate of commercial real estate companies and strategic partnerships. He has been involved as a real estate entrepreneur for more than thirty years, starting when he was working toward his degree in finance from the University of Akron. Simultaneously, he became the youngest person, at age eighteen, to ever obtain a Series 7 stock broker license from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Additionally, he obtained several student rental properties at the university, thereby starting what is now the Omni portfolio. After receiving his degree, Pat worked at various finance and real estate related jobs while building Omni and partnering with fellow classmates to create Pride One, a residential and commercial real estate development business. He also received his Certified Commercial Investment Manager (CCIM) designation during this time. Today, his real estate consulting clients and partners include many well-known international publicly traded companies as well as locally owned and operated businesses. Pat has been involved as a principal in more than $2 billion in real estate projects. In 1999, he was chosen as one of Crain's Cleveland Business magazines 40 under 40. He was selected to be a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2004. Pat has been chairman of the Cleveland chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). He was named the NAIOP 2000 Developer of the Year and served as its president in 2004. Pat was recently the chairman of the board for North Coast Community Homes, a nonprofit housing organization serving approximately one thousand developmentally disabled residents. He serves as one of six trustees on the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, a $162 million grant-making foundation that focuses on entrepreneurial education. Pat is an active jet airplane and helicopter pilot, scuba diver, snow and water skier, cyclist, snowboarder, boater, exercise enthusiast, martial artist, and accomplished mountain climber. He and his father successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, the world s tallest freestanding mountain, in June 2014, making his father (then seventy-nine) the oldest American to summit to date. Pat is married to Gina Marie and has two adult children: Chase, 23, and Logan, 20. He and his family reside in Bentleyville, Ohio. His favorite book is Oh, the Places You ll Go by Dr. Seuss because it has a strong message for 6-year-old children to 106-year-old adults. His favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan because it exemplifies the human sacrifice for the freedom we all enjoy to this day.
