A well bound complete two volume set of Richard Graves' best known picaresque novel, a satire on Methodism. Complete in two volumes. Volumes XXXII and XXXIII of 'The British Novelists'. 'The Spiritual Quixote' is a picaresque novel, satirising Methodism, John Wesley, and George Whitefield. Graves was an Anglican cleric, and saw Methodism as a threat to his Anglican congregation. With a life of the author. Written by Richard Graves, who is best known for this work. Rebacked full calf binding, with the original boards retained. Externally, smart. Light marks and minor rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
