Spiritual Simplicity: Simplify Your Life and Enrich Your Soul

Growing in Faith shows us how simplifying our lives, feeding our souls, and increasing our capacity to offer and accept love are the keys to restoring our vitality and capacity for enjoyment. Simplifying is the first step toward taking charge of our own destinies.
The gift of simplicity, Yount reveals, is a limitless gift we can give ourselves again and again over a lifetime. The process takes some planning and motivation, but little labor. In fact, the simple life takes less effort because it clears away debris and allows us to concentrate our energy and attention on the things that bring us happiness. That modest effort will bring almost immediate results. We can simplify our lives at any age, a step at a time. All we need remember is to take just those steps that will both open up time for satisfaction and reduce the daily pressure to live up to others' demands on us.
Rest assured, taking charge will not turn us into control freaks. The more we clear away the clutter and distractions, Yount asserts, the more quickly we can let go of our reins and confidently enjoy life. That means nourishing our spirits - living not just from our heads but from our hearts and souls. Invariably, men and women who take steps to simplify their lives discover that their senses sharpen, their health improves, and they become at once less defensive and less aggressive in their dealings with others. They become more loving with their families, more compassionate with strangers, more forgiving of human nature, and more at peace with themselves.
Yount demonstrates not only how to simplify your life to make more time for yourself, but how to gain new and deeper satisfaction, greater control, and spiritual growth from the outset. Step by step, you will clear away the rubble that impedes your progress.

Religion columnist for the Scripps Howard News Service, Yount writes in a clear, simple style that suits his topic. His advice for paring down to necessities includes taking practical steps that save time and money and considering a whole inventory of mental, emotional, and spiritual elements. Relationships, work, health, faith, and every other facet of being can be examined to discover what is valuable and what is not. A grateful attitude, prayer and meditation, time for solitude, and self-examination are keys to establishing spiritual simplicity. A topic sure to interest today's seekers.
