About the Author: Bruce C. Hafen is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and has served as president of Ricks College (now BYU Idaho), provost at BYU, and Dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. He now serves as executive director of the Priesthood Department of the Church. He is the author of several books, including The Broken Heart and A Disciple s Life: The Biography of Neal A. Maxwell. He and his wife, Marie, are the parents of seven children and the grandparents of forty.
