The Spooky Secrets of Camp Midnight: Middle Grade Mystery book Kids adventure Thriller story Camping horror trip Ages 8 to 14

Calvin thought his camping trip to Camp Midnight would be the best day of his life, unlike another trip a few years ago. Along with his best friend and their families, they would be roasting s’mores around the campfire, hiking in the mountains, gazing at the vibrant fireworks display, and enjoying the last stretch of summer, before getting dumped with responsibilities from his teachers and his parents. Nothing can go wrong… right?

But the moment their rented car breaks down, Calvin realizes this trip won’t be anything like he imagined. Strange things start to happen the closer they get to camp. The forest feels alive, as if something is watching. And when Calvin and his best friend stumble upon a mysterious object in a place where it shouldn’t be, they uncover secrets and stories the camp tried to conceal for years.

Inside the object lies a dark and tragic story, one that should have stayed forgotten. A final message urges them to come to a forbidden place that the camp tried to keep campers away from, and meet the owner who seems to have secrets of his own. More than any kid could possibly have.

The deeper Calvin and his best friend dig, the more dangerous the camp becomes. Shadows, spirits, and souls escape after nightfall, waiting to tell their secrets, some nice and some cruel. The truth of Camp Midnight’s history may cost them more than their summer–it may cost them their lives.

Campfires. Friendship. Secrets. Revenge. At Camp Midnight, the scariest stories aren’t told around the fire… they’re waiting to be found… in the dark.
