About the Author
"Robert (Robin) E. Ammon Jr, graduated with an EdD in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. His areas of research include: legal liabilities in sport, recreation and physical education, risk management in sport and athletics, and premises liability. Currently, he is the Chair of the Division of Kinesiology & Sport Science at the University of South Dakota. Prior to that, he was the Chair of the Sport Management Department at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, for over 16 years. Dr. Southall is Director of the College Sport Research Institute (CSRI) at the University of South Carolina, which publishes annual Adjusted Graduation Gap (AGG) Reports. A recognized expert on NCAA big-time college-sport issues, he is frequently contacted by the national media, and has been quoted in such news outlets as The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Time and CNN. Dr. Nagel has co-authored three textbooks: Introduction to Sport Management: Theory and Practice; Financial Management in the Sport Industry; and Sport Facility Management: Organizing Events and Mitigating Risks. Dr. Nagel has authored or co-authored numerous articles in refereed journals such as the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Entertainment and Sport Law Journal, International Journal of Sport Finance, and Sport Management Review. He has also published extensively in professional journals as well as written numerous academic book chapters and given dozens of research presentations. He has also served as treasurer for the North American Society for Sport Management and the Sport and Recreation Law Association.
