The Sport Studies Reader

"This anthology provides breadth, depth, and continuity in a thoughtfully presented selection of classic, current, and provocative readings. For instructors it is the "course pack" they’ve always wanted to prepare, and for students it is the readings they’ve spent untold hours seeking in libraries…Tomlinson’s introductions put each reading in a context that gives students reason to take it seriously and a framework to connect it with theory and research. " Professor Jay Coakley, The University of Colorado.

Featuring the work of many of the world's most influential authors writing on sport, The Sport Studies Reader explores the key sociological, historical, political and cultural themes that impact on the discipline. Containing key and classic readings, with an editorial introduction and conclusion within each themed section, the Reader also includes discussion questions for the classroom. This collection offers the student all the essential background needed for a rounded understanding of the nature of sport and its role in society.
