Red cloth boards with bevelled edges; decorations and titles in black and green on front board; gilt titles on spine. 24 tinted plates; plates at pages 177 and 186 are missing but have not been obviously removed so were possibly not bound in. Illustrations (woodcuts) in the text. Publisher's catalogue at rear. Boards lightly rubbed and soiled; cloth just starting to fray at ends of spine; spine discoloured and gilt faded. Endpapers lightly toned/foxed; bookplate on front pastedown; previous owner's name on front free endpaper. Spots on a few pages at front and rear but otherwise clean. Some pages unopened; some eaves in publisher's catalogue with dog-eared corners. Binding firm.
