First published in 1956, this is a first Book Club edition of 1957. Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, two 'skinned' patches, one to bottom front jacket and one to bottom spine (removal of old sticky labels?), corners slightly bruised and split, some spotting to page fore edges, inside flaps and back jacket, not price clipped (no price), no inscriptions, internally clean almost square and tight, a very reasonable copy for its age. 276pp. Finding so young and pretty a girl as Amanda wandering unattended, Sir Gareth Ludlow knows it is his duty as a man of honour to restore her to her family.
