The Editor notes in the first issue that the magazine "dares to be queer by suggesting it is time for lesbians and gay men to appear side by side…We will talk about who we are inside. We believe if the personal is political, the intimate is transformational."Articles across these issues include "The Tao of Queer," "Gay Genetics," "Does Incest Make You Gay," "Marianne Williamson s Homo-Magnetism," "Sex, Dykes, and Playthings," "A Lutheran Sissy Ponders Christ s Pee Pee," "Butch Femme: The Soul of Lesbian Queer," "Dear Dan Quayle: Maybe Murphy Brown Is a Lesbian," "The Hip Culture of Gay Coffeehouses," "Abortion is a Gay Men s Issue," "The Queer Rites of Halloween," and "The Mainstreaming of Gay Film." Square Peg was published from 1992-1994 (Cordova also published The Lesbian Tide from 1971-1980). No copies in commerce and only 5 institutions per OCLC have some issues (USC, UC Davis, Cal State Northridge, Texas A&M, Michigan State).
