A map accompanies a historical study tracing the foundation and growth of the see of St.
David’s. This edition presents a thorough, archival-style look at how the diocese developed from its monastic origins to a later organizational structure, with attention to priors, bishops, and regional boundaries.
The text covers the diocese’s geography, key milestones in its foundation, and the way historical records shape our understanding of its early history. It weaves together continental connections, Welsh tradition, and ecclesiastical governance to illuminate the development of this region’s church.- Learn how the see emerged from a monastic site and expanded across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Cardiganshire.
- Explore the interplay between Welsh and Anglo-Norman church traditions, and the evolving role of bishops.
- See how place names and parishes reveal the diocese’s historical landscape and boundaries.
- Review the structure of chapters that discuss foundation, isolation, fusion, monasticism, civil disorder, and revival.

Store description
