Add to basketSt Lawrence Hall; Thomas Nelson & Sons (Canada) Limited; Toronto and Montreal; 1969. This book was prepared with the active interest and encouragement of the Toronto Chapter of the Ontario Association of Architects. From the blurb John A. MacDonald and Pierre Trudeau, Jenny Lind, and Rudolf Nureyev, firemen and Governors-General, Mayors and hoboes, fishmongers and ballet dancers have all made their distinctive contribution to the life of St. Lawrence Hall, from the great days of the 1850 s and 60 s, and the succeeding years of decline to its triumphant rebirth in 1967. Contributors of essays include W. E. Barnett, Harry Bruce, Eric Arthur, Kenneth B. Smith, Eric Arthur, Celia Franca, and William Thomas. St. Lawrence Hall is a meeting hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located at the corner of King Street East and Jarvis Street. It was created to be Toronto's public meeting hall home to public gatherings, concerts, and exhibitions. Its main feature was a thousand-seat amphitheatre. For decades the hall was the centre of Toronto's social life before larger venues took over much of this business. Today the hall continues as a venue for events including weddings, conferences, and art shows. This book is bound in black cloth, has 185 pages measuring 201mm X 201mm, and is in fine condition as is the dust jacket, now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. A beautiful copy of a scarce book on one of Toronto s historic and fabled buildings.
