Stained Glass Applique: The Simple Fused Way

Make beautiful stained glass quilts the simple way...by fusing! Step-by-step photos accompany the easy-to-follow instructions. All the gorgeous patterns are presented full sized. Pattern pieces are colored the same as the quilts to aid in fabric selection and placement. Learn how to applique the pieces, finish the raw edges, and quilt the layers, all at the same time. This is a real time-saver, and it looks great. The beautiful stained-glass patterns are the result of a collaboration between popular quilting teacher and author Brenda Brayfield and well-known stained-glass artist turned quilter Lise Merchant. The result is a delightful collection of patterns that range from simple to sophisticated.

"Log Cabin: Rediscovered by Machine" is Brenda's first book about quiltmaking. She has been making and showing quilts since she took her first class in 1993 and teaches quilting in local workshops. Brenda Brayfield was born in Northern Ireland and immigrated with her parents to Vancouver, British Columbia as a young child. She now lives in Surrey with her husband, Roger.

Lise Merchant was born in the province of Quebec, Canada, and moved to the Yukon in 1981. An accomplished stained glass artist, Lise has many large commissioned works in government buildings, churches and private collections throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. The idea of blending her earlier love of sewing with her stained glass designs took shape when she mentioned the idea to a friend and quilt shop owner. She discovered that the two passions blend and complement each other.
