The Standard-Cell Comparator, a Specialized Potentiometer (Classic Reprint)

This book introduces a method for the highly accurate comparison of standard cells through the use of a potentiometer. The method is explained thoroughly, with particular attention given to features that ensure high precision and reduce or eliminate errors that could arise during the comparison process. A standard cell comparator was designed and built to employ this method, with the full details of the instrument presented in this book. The instrument is notable for its ability to measure emf values and indicate the results directly, without the need for interpolation or additional calculations. The comparator's operating procedure is described step-by-step, and its operating limits and potential uses are discussed. The book is an essential resource for anyone involved in the precise measurement of standard cells, providing a detailed guide to a highly accurate and efficient method for doing so.
