500 pgs. Index; contains a vast number of formulas, covering a wealth of information valuable to the pharmacist, for home/household use and for veterinary preparations and applications. A good deal of the information given is based upon knowlege & recommendations from various pharmacopoeias, the Electric Dispensatory, the National Formulary, and other authoritative works of the period. "The quantities of all formulas have been adapted to the usual needs of pharmacists." For example, there are over 60 pharmacetitical preparations given, incl. the following: abstracts; Acids; Balsam; Camphor; Chloroforms; Drops; Extracts; Honeys; Juices; Lotions; Ointments; Pastes; Pills; Salts; Spirits; Tinctures; Vinegars; Wines; etc. There are numerous household remedies, over 40 in number, including Bitters; Bunion cures; burns & scalds; cough & cold remedies; diarrhoea/dysentary; ear medicines; eczema; gout; hay-fever; itch remedies; ointment & salves; ringworm; throat afflictions; warts; etc. Under section dealing with Veterinary Preparations are included medicines & preparations for horses, cattle; sheep; swine; dogs & cats; chickens. Includied is an extensive section preparing perfumes, powders, colognes; tonics; mouth, head & bath preparations and an interesting soda water preparation, e.g. fruit juices; root beer; sodas; syrups; tonics; vinegars and the like. Also laid-in front fly-leaf pages is small 30+ pg. pamphlet titled "A Dose List of Drugs, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Prepared Especially For Reference In Dispensing." dated 1893. Also on pg. 111 is an attached/laid-in formula for "Lotion Calamine & Zinc Oxide." Additionally, on pg. 123, are 2 formulas (penned-in on top margin for Sippy Powder and Soda Bicarbonate. Maroon cloth boards & spine are quite good for their age, showing only a little edge and cloth wear. Internet and mail order; the inventory is largely catholic in scope in that there are items in many fields and disciplines; much of the stock, especially that of older or earlier copyrighted material, is from items which have been in the family for several generations. With the passage of time, and family members, these collections have, somewhat, gravitated together and are offered for sale, via ABE; we continue to acquire additional items of interest, from time to time, as they turn up.

Items offered subject to prior sale. CREDIT CARD payment accepted through ABE.COmmerce; To ORDER DIRECT, please prepay by money order or check drawn on U.S. bank. Make checks/Money Orders out to L.W. Flannery. (Flannery is our Business Manager & Keeper of the Books.)
Items may be "reserved or placed on hold" via e-mail, telephone, or FAX request; "Reserved" or "Hold" items can be held for 20 days . . . payment must be received before the end of this alloted period; items will be shipped on receipt of payment; libraries billed when necessary, when ordered on institutional letterhead or purchase order form.
RETURNS/REFUND POLICY: Please e-mail within ten days of receipt of books, stipulating your intention to return, and return within twenty days for refund; shipping charges are non-refundable and items of one hundred dollars, or over, must be insured.
SHIPMENT: Domestic orders sent standard mail, UPS, or priority mail at buyer's request; insured or larger volumes, e.g. sets, multi-volume collections, or heavy items, will be sent per buyer's wishes and billed @ cost.
SHIPPING CHARGES: Within U.S. $4.75 (surface) for first volume; $Extra charges for each additional volume and this will depend on size and/or weight. Priority mail at cost. Outside of the U.S. shipments are sent via air-mail, surface-mail, or per buyer's request, depending on value and/or bulk. We strive to keep shipping charges down and provide the method most suitable to the buyer. Sometimes it is necessary to increase rates, which are set by the ABE shipping rate schedules, because their rate schedule is based on average size (2.2 lbs)per book and does not take into consideration larger/heavier items.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days or less. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
