306 pp, in original flexible cloth boards stamped in gilt. 4.5 x 7.75 inches. Considerable wear/soiling boards, several old ownership stamps and signatures on endpapers (E.G. Styron, Brunswick, Ga. Aug 1889; W.A. Smith, Elberton, GA), cloth splitting at rear joint, old water damage (rippling, a bit of staining) to first c. 25 leaves. Binding sound, text clean. A fascinating relic of the telegraphic era, providing telegraphic "shorthand" for thousands of phrases commonly used in the cotton trade. Includes sections on the state of markets; stock, supply, and sales; crops and prospects; samples; selling; freight; insurance; money market and foreign and domestic exchange, and more.
