About this title

Synopsis

College is hard. This can help.

Successfully navigating life's transitions requires wisdom and confidence. That's because transitions can be hard, and certainly the transition from high school to college is a big one. Where do students begin when it comes to handling such a huge life change? What do they do when their confidence falters? How do they handle the inevitable failures, disappointments, and freedom that comes with the beginning of adult life?

In Starting Now, Crystal Chiang and Gerald Fadayomi speak directly to students in their first year of college, a transition which can be both exciting and terrifying. This interactive guide helps students think through not what they want to do in college, but who they want to be.

Inside students will find…

• Six weeks of thought-provoking ideas related to community, identity, faith, integrity, freedom, and service.
• Five devotions per week, followed by a "starting now" activity to use as a plan-maker for their future or a reminder of what God says is true about them.
• Help choosing a team of mentors from among adults they already know. (Learn more at OnMyTeam.org.)

Figuring out where you're going in life isn't easy, but it doesn't have to be as mysterious as students might think. Starting Now can help them begin to move in the direction of a future they want.

About the Author

CRYSTAL CHIANG

Crystal Chiang is the director of XP3 High School curriculum. Before joining the team at Orange, she spent 10 years as a high school Spanish teacher and student ministry leader, doing everything from small groups, to speaking, to curriculum design. She currently volunteers at her church as a leader of sophomore girls whose numbers are creating what might be deemed a not-so-small group. They keep her laughing, praying, and constantly on her toes. Crystal and her husband, Tom, live in Atlanta, Georgia, with their embarrassingly ill-tempered chihuahua, Javier.
