She surveys various business opportunities--e.g., home-based businesses such as tax preparation, catering, cleaning businesses--and examines the pros and cons of franchises. She covers many nitty-gritty details such as advertising, permits, insurance, and location. Not forgotten are such things as what business structure to use (partnership? chapter-S corporation?) and merchandising itself. Necessarily, insight (e.g., join a trade association) is mixed with truism (e.g., keep costs low). Finally, May provides coaching on retiring the second time--that is, selling the business. Despite a rather skimpy "reference" section, the range, detail, and upbeat encouragement for the tentative rate this a (cheap) purchase.
