The State of Housing Design series is published by the Joint Center for Housing Studies, a research center affiliated with the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, that has produced analyses of housing markets and policy for over sixty years.

About the Authors: Sam Naylor is an architect, educator, and researcher. He is a founding partner of Nominal︎, an architecture and design firm based in Boston and Minneapolis, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Practice at the University of Minnesota College of Design.

Daniel D’Oca is an urban planner and Associate Professor in Practice of Urban Planning at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a principal and cofounder of the New York-based architecture, urban design, and planning firm Interboro Partners.

Chris Herbert is the managing director at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies and a lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.
