State of the World

In an age of great richness that is heavily burdened by uncertainty, risk, contradiction, and absurdity, there is much fuel for intellectual criticism and debate. Reflecting upon the present as the fundamental time for action, this anthology contains contributions by Carlos Pacheco, Colin Richards, Ghassan Zaqtan, João Barrento, John Frow, Moira Simpson, Paul Gilroy, Peter Sloterdijk, Rosângela Rennó, Santiago Kovadloff, Surendra Munshi, and Wang Hui. As citizens of the world, they are not just concerned with their country, house, religion, or personal pleasure, but with the consequences of the wars that are currently taking place and those that loom on the horizon, as well as with the deepening of asymmetries as the most negative aspect of globalization.
