Abraham Wald (1902-1950) was a revolutionary figure in the development of modern statistics, one of the creators of modern decision theory and the creator of the vastly important sequential analysis. Foundational paper of modern asymptotic theory in statistics.  This paper along with others that appeared in the Annals would be published in 1950 in Wald's "Statistical Decision Functions" which was a considerable achievement in the development of modern statistics.
