Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition. vii, 200 pp; tables. Original cloth. Bookplate on flyleaf, else Near Fine, in near fine dust jacket (unclipped). 'The paper 'Random processes in genetics' (Proc. Camb. Phil. Soc. 54, 60-71), published in 1958, was Pat's first attempt at a genetic problem and was inspired by W. Feller's article in the Proceedings of the Second Berkeley Symposium. He quickly developed expertise in the area and, after a flurry of activity, produced the book The Statistical Processes of Evolutionary Theory in 1962" (C.C. Heyde, 'Patrick Alfred Pierce Moran 1917-1988', Australian Academy of Science, Biographical Memoirs of Deceased Fellows; please ask for on-line source). Pat Moran's Ph.D. students at the Australian National University, right around the time of his book's publication, included the influential geneticist Warren Ewens; the History of Recent Science & Technology page on the MIT Web site posted a 2004 interview with Ewens in which he recalls Moran's influence.
