xx, 749, 104 p. 22 cm half leather binding with marble-papered boards. Features colour fold-out map, tearing near anchor and at fold corners, owner's signature on its back. Rebound in attractive half leather with marbled boards. Dampstains, small tears on title page, text stained in appendix from p. 96 to end. Occasional foxing throughout but text is highly legible. Rev. Townsend's survey was commissioned by the Dublin Society and its focus is on Cork County's agricultural economy. Sections cover geography, inhabitants, antiquities, ecclesiastical places, agriculture, and the various baronies. An errata page follows the table of contents. This book gives the reader a historical picture of Ireland in the years leading up to the Great Famine.
