A Statistical Survey of the Snakes of the Southern Border of California (Classic Reprint)

A statistical snapshot of snakes on the California border reveals how scientists compile and interpret field data to understand where snakes live, how they move, and what affects their presence in San Diego County.

This edition presents the methods and results of eight years of careful record-keeping and analysis.

This volume is not a field guide; it focuses on the data that underpin distribution, habitat, and habit. It notes how donations, field work, and cross-border records contribute to a clearer picture of local snake populations, including notable findings and limitations.

• Eight years of records from San Diego County, with a wide view that includes adjacent areas
• Distribution patterns by habitat and climate, plus discussion of rarity and locality data
• Statistical tables and interpretation aimed at researchers and informed readers
• incidental field notes that illuminate the data behind the census

Ideal for readers of natural history and local science, this work suits researchers, students, and curious residents who want a data-driven view of snakes in Southern California.
