SHEETS 28-34 INCLUSIVE (pertaining to inventory of rolling stock) HAVE BEEN RAZORED OUT. _____ A unique volume of manuscript statistical ledger sheets for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Rail Road Company examining the year 1888. _____ Small folio volume, 18.5 x 13", in black cloth with leather spine and corners. _____ The spine is imprinted "Statistics 1888 A.T. & S.F R.R. Co." _____ At the head of the spine are two small labels "2" & "30", probably book case & shelf numbers for storage._____ There is a small Boston book binders label on front pastedown. _____ Rubber stamped on front free endpaper "A.T.S.F.R.R. Co / Office of / Fourth Vice President / & General Auditor / Boston / Mar 27(5) 1890" (the "7" has been changed to "5" in manuscript). _____ This stamp is also found (with differing dates) on the backs of several of the documents. _____ The volume consists of stubs to which various, original statistical reports have been tipped. _____ Many have been signed by the auditor (whose name is indecipherable) and credited to the auditor's office in Topeka. _____ Mounted to the back of the front free endpaper is a mimeo(?) sheet titled "1888 / Statistical Statements / INDEX", listing the contents of the 63+ reports enclosed. _____ At the foot of this sheet, in hand, is the "Note / No. 50 J.P.W. took & cannot now find / " 51 do. do. / [initialed] T.E.E. 4/17/90" ____ A complete inventory of the documents is available on request. _____ Per the manuscript note, stubs 50 & 51 have place holding blanks mounted and numbered, reiterating that those documents were missing when the volume was bound. _____ The individual documents are on varying sizes of paper, and had previously been folded, probably for mailing to the Boston office. _____ The binding shows heavy corner wear, and there is a 3" rip to the mid-spine recently glued with moderate skill._____.
