Modern library buckram, very good condition, light foxing. The map is an example of the small version of the landmark Bonner map of Georgia. 624, 77 pp. The text concentrates on descriptions of each of the counties. The DeKalb county text contains one of the earliest mentions and brief description of Atlanta which had been founded only two years earlier. That description begins: "Atlanta is a new place, formerly called Marthasville, but in 1847 it was incorporated, and its name changed to 'The City of Atlanta.' " It population at this time was estimated at 2,500. Howes W354.
