The Stealth Reporter

In the early twentieth century, The New York World’s investigative reporter Mae Mason is prepared to break the biggest story of the new century. The anticipated disclosure draws her into a dangerous web. Within the ominous world of informants, corrupt politicians and coppers, she pursues the story at great personal risk. Her path takes a perilous turn one morning on the Third Avenue Elevated line, changing her life. Now, Mae has two essential motivations: breaking the big story and evading deadly danger. Adobe Centori, a New Mexico rancher comes to New York to renew an affair with Mae and support her with his Colt .45. Violet Evalina supports Mae with the pen, not the sword. Emboldened by these alliances, Mae fights for justice and survival. Set against the backdrop of New York’s transformation from a 19th century city to a 20th century metropolis, The Stealth Reporter presents a sophisticated and dynamic narrative—one of Cillis’ most compelling novels.
