From the Inside Flap
Steampunk enthusiasts are imaginative dressers. But when it comes to accessorizing the perfect steampunk costume, it can be hard to find what you're looking for in stores or online. So here's a complete guide to making your own distinctive accessories with ease!
(front flap)
Steampunk, the style of a historical period that never was, has taken the crafting world by storm. Goggles, fob watches, delicate yet oddly mechanical-looking jewelry, gauntlets, and millinery, all so crucial to the look, can be expensive to buy. And even where they're affordable and available, it's not easy to get a truly individual look off the shelf. What to do? The answer is simple: make your own. It's easier than you think--and using this book as your guide, you're guaranteed excellent results that will perfectly match your personality.
The authors offer a wide selection of inventive steampunkery, including luggage labels for your fantasy trip, complete sets of jewelry, elaborate gauntlets, an elegant hat cockade, and a cool fob watch. If you're a steampunk novice, you'll find the book's twenty projects easy to accomplish. The templates, detailed lists of items and materials, and illustrated step-by-step sequences will show you how to get perfect results so that your accessories look exactly the way they're illustrated in this book. If you're an experienced crafter you'll also find plenty to keep you busy, as you customize everything to meet your exact requirements. (Steampunkers are famously particular about finish.) Whether you're adding finishing touches to your own outfit or making a fabulous gift for the steampunk fan in your life, you'll find the answers you're looking for in this collection.
