Large folio 17 x 12 inches, image size, on cream wove paper (13 x 20 inches). [Paris, 1896]. Original lithograph poster printed in three colors: black, pale green and gold. The scarce poster by Theophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923) for the book, "Chanson de femmes," which was issued in the same year as the poster, 1896 (Paris, Enoch & Cie). Theophile Steinlen Theophile Steinlen, Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter, illustrator, and printmaker, is best known for his iconic posters and depictions of Parisian life. He moved to Paris in the 1880s and became a key figure in Montmartre artistic scene, associating with figures like Toulouse-Lautrec. His art combined realism with Art Nouveau influences, making him a significant contributor to the Belle Epoque visual culture. A most delicate image. Extremely scarce thus. Fine.
