Synopsis
"Basically, the enemy we face in our country today is not an enemy attackingfrom the outside of our border but an enemy embedded within. Freedom cannotthrive if the family unit does not survive. Without an understanding of noblesacrifice, serving others, or divine accountability, we are doomed. The time iscritical. We need men to step up to the plate of leadership, we need women tocome alongside, and we need abandonment to be abandoned. As mentioned on the backside of this book, I am a product of this looselifestyle myself, and as I matured into a young adult, I just fell into my placeof hurting and misleading others too. This may be a similar lifestyle thatyou are in or came from. I did not truly understand the destruction that Iwas distributing until I looked at the wake I was leaving behind me in thislifestyle. So where did my personal change come from in my life? First of all,my personal change wasn’t as easy as a oil change at Walmart. No it was morelike an engine overhaul by NASCAR. Disassembly of thoughts and lifestyle ispart of of the process. Reassembly with perseverance, grace, and love is mustin order to foster a changed life. Between the self help books, shots of tequila,A.C.A. meetings, a couple sixpacks, some acid trips, divorce, counciling, andlosing my car a couple times, plus a dozen or so girlfriends, I finally opened abook my grandmother had given me. This book introduced me to Jesus. Nowplease don’t drop this book and run. I’m not here to convert or preach, butI wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t mention the Bible and Jesus. Through bothI’ve learned the ability to love others as I would have liked to be loved as achild, sacrificial, unadulterated, and kind—love that leads to the building upof others, not only to build my family directly but mankind as a whole. Peopleobviously learn how to love by the example given them by their parents. Themodel lived out before them is the foundation of which they’ll build their lives on. Women won’t reach their full potential as an adult until they have made thedecisions required of a mother, and boys won’t grow up and become men untilthey are challenged to serve their own family and not themselves.Even if you don’t believe in the Bible as an inspired word of God, Jesustaught us to be accountable to something bigger than ourselves and to loveour neighbor as ourselves. If we could just put those two things into action,“first” in our lives, then our families’ lives. Our communities would thriveand not have to get into welfare lines, abortion lines, or battle lines . . .This book and workbook to follow are designed to give you, the reader, abetter perspective of how challenging the step life can be. Whether you’re theparent or the stepparent, the challenges and frustrations will be unique to yourmarriage. Sometimes you may feel like you’re shipwrecked on an island all alonein the ocean of life, because when you speak to friends or family they don’t havean ex to deal with. They don’t have children to deal with children that aren’tbiologically theirs. They don’t have the feelings of frustration when the otherparents rules are mentioned in defiance or that parent does something that youdisagree with and you have no control to change their influence. Anyway, thesethings and more will be dealt in later chapters, so read on, soldiers."
About the Author
Howdy! If you've picked up this book, you either know a stepparent, are a stepparent, are a parent married to a stepparent, you may be having thoughts of becoming a stepparent, or you're the Grand-stepparent, the parental parent married to a stepparent, the brother or sister now known as an uncle or aunt related to the children now the children's stepparent through marriage your kin . . . huh? Huh? . . . Exactly my point. When we look at the potential family tree developing here, we see confusion. All the more so when you're the child involved in this lifestyle. I wrote this book and workbook, not as a writer on the subject who researched and came to a conclusion. No, I'm a witness who was raised in this adult/adolescent rebellion toward a standard of sane living. But my story growing up isn't as important as the stories that our nation is developing in our children . . . now. It's time for women to stop playing house with boyfriends and allowing children to be born into noncommitted households. It's time for our young men to be taught the value of women as an equal partner in life's journey and stop bouncing from this girl to that girl. It's time to stop using abortion clinics as a place of birth control, which causes an emotional scaring, numbing, and disconnection for the value of human life. Free sex is anything but free. Just look at our prison systems, court-custody battles, and cyclical society of superficial relationships. Sex has become the focus for something we use to serve our emotional void instead of its pure intent for an enveloping of two souls in the act of procreation and devotional love. Sex, something that was designed for good, is now only a self-serving distraction used for destruction. You may be thinking, "What does abortion, prison, or Christmas have to do with the step life?" Just checking . . . I haven't mentioned Christmas yet. Listen closely, . . . this union of two people that have preexisting families, who are now combining them
