An Interim Removable Partial Denture (IRPD) is a temporary prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth during a transitional period. It helps restore aesthetics, limited function, and speech while maintaining the position of remaining natural teeth. IRPDs are commonly used after extractions, during healing, or while waiting for a definitive prosthesis such as a fixed bridge or implant. Made mostly from acrylic resin, they may include wire clasps for retention. Though not intended for long-term use, IRPDs provide essential support during treatment planning and ensure patient comfort throughout the restorative process.
