About the Author
Madlyn Stokes listened to her husband Claude and his twin brother Clyde tell their World War II stories for fifty years before she felt a spiritual urging to write them down. Taking events chronologically, she began with stories of the Stokes twins growing up, rough and tumble Oklahoma farm boys who, like most kids growing up in the nation's heartland, gave only passing thought to becoming American heroes. Yet Madlyn shows in her meticulous accounting, the way American patriots are made...born and reared by fits and starts, their paths replete with obstacles and encouagement, parental discipline and indulgence, failures and achievements. And this book, her final product, is a tribute to America, to a nation's unflagging courage in the face of treachery, deceit, and grasping, evil men striving for power and dominion over a free wheeling, free thinking people. The Stokes twins fought tyranny in Europe in World War II thinking to defeat evil for good and all. Recent world events, however, indicate the battle continues as new Americans, following a nation's tradition of heroes, willingly take up arms to fight madmen and tyranny. Thank you, Madlyn, for this tribute which has turned out to be a timely reminder for the need of heroes in our nation today. God Bless this country.
