The Stone Remembers: The Grotto

The Stone Remembers is a novella by William F. Rayer that follows Jalen Dovek, a passionate spelunker, and Avery Poletec, as they discover a mysterious grotto where the stones seem to communicate ancient memories. Their journey leads them to uncover messages from the earth itself, expressed through visions, spoken words, and symbols—some in Navajo and even Egyptian hieroglyphs. Guided by indigenous wisdom and aided by university professors and a Navajo medicine man, Jalen and Avery become messengers for the stone’s plea: to remember, heal, and restore harmony to the earth. As corporate interests threaten the sacred site, the protagonists must decide how to protect and share the stone’s message with the world, blending legend, science, and a call to environmental stewardship.
