1990 Dow Jones-Irwin hardcover, Mark R. Horowitz (Bullers Arms: A Baby Boomer's Quest for the Simple Life at the Beginning of the 21st Century). The author suggests, quite literally, that there is nothing new in the world, and looks to the past for solutions to modern problems and a simpler way of life. - Weiser Antiquarian Books
About the Author:
Mark R. Horowitz is an English historian, business executive, marketing consultant, author, educator and news commentator. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He has authored scholarly articles and given academic papers in the U.S., England, Portugal and Ireland. He has written more than 500 articles and scripts as a weekly international columnist for UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL; Guest columnist for USA TODAY; weekly radio commentator for an NBC affiliate in Chicago; and OP-Ed contributor to newspapers. These commentaries look at everything occurring today from the perspective of the last 5,000 years of history.
He taught an upper level course, THE TUDOR KINGS, at the University of Illinois (Chicago) as a Visiting Professor. He also created a presentation for universities and the public based on a murder he solved that took place 500 year years ago. He was Guest Editor of a special volume of Historical Research entitled "WHO WAS HENRY VII?", for which he chose the scholars on both sides of the Atlantic and wrote the Intro and two articles. It became the journal's best-selling volume in its 90-year history. Mark's collection of brass rubbings created from English tomb effigies dated from 1277 to 1631 toured the U.S. and now resides at the Spurlock Museum. His latest book is DARING DYNASTY: Custom, Conflict and Control in Early-Tudor England.
Mark was a senior executive at an international marketing/public relations firm, part of the $15 billion global Omnicom company. He consults for companies and non-profits, and works with state governments on 21st century educational concepts based on marketing processes he has trademarked. He created unique driver education programs to help reduce a leading cause of injury and death, especially among young people: vehicle crashes. Mark earned his BA from Tulane University, his MA from the University of Illinois (Chicago) and his PhD from the University of Chicago.
