H.B. Glushakow was born five months to the day before Donald J. Trump. While attending the City College of New York and New York University, Glushakow was active in the civil rights movement, knew Martin Luther King Jr., and was an organizer at the 1963 March on Washington. He also worked as an investigative reporter for Ramparts magazine and several other periodicals.
In the late 1960s, he established an electrical contracting company in New York City where he came face to face with the corruption and Mob influences rampant in the New York construction industry. Glushakow later turned to the power quality and alternative energy fields where he worked for over twenty-five years.
As a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, he has participated in standards development, various power quality projects, and the incorporation of wind energy into metropolitan structures. But he never gave up his interest and action in political and social issues. He created a muckraking website to expose corruption in international standards, which resulted in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) adopting a code of ethics for the first time in its 120-year history.
He has authored a number of books and technical papers, including a textbook on energy and climate change Energy Miracles: The Global Warming Backup Plan, published by Jenny Stanford Publishing.
