The Storm of Life

By turns thrilling, witty, and heartbreaking, this dramatic conclusion to the Brilliant Death duet transports us to a Vinalia on the verge of chaos, unless Teo and some unconventional allies join forces.

“Wild with thrilling shifts and electrifying prose, this passionate storm carries the story to a worthy end.”—Kirkus Reviews

Free to use her magic openly and confess her love to Cielo, Teodora di Sangro should be delighted by her new life. But her beloved country of Vinalia is descending into chaos. The dictatorlike Capo threatens to plunge them all into war and capture every strega in the land—starting with Teo and Cielo.

Teo knows she can’t take down the Capo alone. She must convince a small band of streghe and several more unlikely allies to join her fight. But as she struggles to bring them together, she discovers a far deadlier enemy than the Capo has been hunting her all along. Now everyone—including Cielo—is in danger.

Amy Rose Capetta has written several novels for young adults and holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from VCFA. She first dreamed of writing about Vinalia when she was younger than Teo. Once upon a time her father's family lived in Italy, in a small town in the mountainside. Now Amy Rose lives in her very own mountains in Vermont, with her partner and their young son.
