In 1985, Libby Riddles made history by becoming the first woman to win the legendary Iditarod Sled Dog Race—a grueling 1,100-mile race across the frozen Alaskan wilderness. In this exciting picture book, kids follow her incredible journey through arctic snowstorms, freezing temperatures, and endless miles of rugged trail. With courage, determination, and the help of her loyal sled dogs, Libby proves that perseverance can overcome even the harshest challenges.

About the Author
Shannon Cartwright has spent most of her Alaska years living in the bush. She expresses her love of Alaska through the 28 children's books she has illustrated, seven of which she has also written.
