Cinder Moss, 8th grade mortal at Copperpenny Middle, doesn't know it, but Odin has a mission for her: slow down Ragnarok.

“Regrettably, girl, you are part of that prophecy, and now that I’ve met you, I wonder if I should start making my own funeral arrangements.”

“Boden’s novel (and prospective series kickoff) boasts a sublime young hero….The author blends taut descriptions of Norse gods and mythology with contemporary dialogue that pops…."A hefty, entertaining fantasy--Our verdict: Get it.”―Kirkus Reviews

Abandoned at birth and shuffled through the system all her life, Cinder is on the verge of being expelled from yet another school. Despite high test scores and uncanny talents in gym class, Cinder’s records show a penchant for fighting, defiance, impulsivity, and “an unwillingness to develop appropriate decision-making skills”―whatever that means. When a lunch-time brawl breaks out in the cafeteria, Cinder gloomily prepares for what has become all-too familiar. This fight, however, won’t end like all the others.

Allfather has dispatched his Predators, an elite team of bodyguards, to bring Cinder to the Proving Grounds, where she will be broken, disciplined, trained, and given her quest directive.

Cinder may be in an alternate realm full of Valkyries, dark elves, and world-encircling serpents, but she still has a chip on her shoulder the size of Thor’s hammer, and she’s not about to let Odin or any other god push her around. Can Tristan, the galaxy’s most eligible boyfriend, help Cinder put the brakes on Ragnarök, or will the end of the world claim her life beneath a strip mall in Pismo, California?

About the Series: In The Predator’s Stone series, 12-year-old Cinder Moss wants nothing more than to belong―and perhaps go three days in a row without getting into a fight. Fortunately, headlining in the starring role of an ancient prophecy foretelling the destruction of the Nine Realms, leaves Cinder little time to dwell on her misery. Odin has the most to lose (his words, not ours) and putting his trust in Cinder has him questioning his immortality.

Cinder is determined to prove to Odin and all of Asgard, this is one fight she won’t lose.

G. R. Boden discovered his passion for writing about things that never happened when his short story Lady in the Market took first place in a college writing contest and was published in the San Joaquin Review. Stormbringer, his first full-length novel, was a thousand years in the making but took a much shorter time to actually write. Greg is a school counselor by day, writer by night, and a reader of all things make-believe. He resides in California's Central Valley, where together with his wife, Yvette, he raised four children and a cat with one eye.
