The achievements of Dr. John Clarke, a co-founder of the towns on Aquidneck Island, as well as the colony of Rhode Island, along with Roger Williams. He wrote and secured the Royal Charter of 1663, obtained from Charles II, guaranteeing civil and religious freedoms for the colony, etc. Bound in plain styled brown-green cloth with title in gilt on front cover and spine. Minor shelf wear seen to edges, spine endcaps, small dent and rub to top of back cover. Hinges good inside and out. Textblock straight and unmarked, toning to pages and edges, minor foxing seen on and near a few illustrations only.
