Hardcover, 65 pp.; 29 cm; illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs, illustrated route-map endpapers, a labeled rigging diagram of a windjammer on a gatefold folding out on both sides, and a fold-out color photograph of the Christian Radich in New York harbor on rear endpaper. In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Glossy pictorial paper over boards. Mild shelf and edge wear, with a tiny bit of nicking to paper at head and foot of spine. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Souvenir book for Windjammer: The Voyage of the Christian Radich (1958), the only feature film shot in the widescreen Cinemiracle process. Produced by Louis de Rochemont, it follows the Norwegian school ship Christian Radich and her cadets from Oslo to Madeira, the Caribbean and New York and home again. Alan Villiers, technical consultant on the film, contributes The School of the Sea, including his account of the loss of the Pamir in 1957, and Sailing a Square-Rigger. Also includes a cadet's shipboard diary, a glossary of ship's terms, a color section of stills, and chapters on the Cinemiracle camera and projection system by director of photography Gayne Rescher.
