Straight Talk from a Blogger

My first book, Please Don't Feed the Bears (Your Portfolio) was published in 2003 and I have wanted to continue to express my ideas about many different topics. After having set up a website, I began to write blogs regarding matters that bothered me because of my perception of erroneous facts. After spending over forty years in the financial industry, I felt that I was experienced enough to challenge many of the young journalists who were writing articles on business and economics.

Some of my blogs cover personal experiences and are apolitical. The blogs appear in chronological order and not by any classification. I hope the reader will enjoy my brief but to-the-point stories.

Gary Marsella was a senior vice president with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter when he retired in 2002, after more than forty years with the company. He has been a visiting professor in business at California State University, Fresno, teaching courses in finance and investments, both in the classroom and via television.

Marsella attended the University of Santa Clara and earned a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He earned a certified financial planner degree from the College for Financial Planning in Denver and also a certified investment management analyst degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

President of the Marsella Family Foundation, he maintains residences in Fresno, California, and in Coronado, California, where he enjoys tennis and golf and serves on another non-profit investment board in addition to his own.
