Straits and Turns (Paperback or Softback)

From the emotional and strange reaction of a taxi driver of Greek descent when he drove his Turkish customer to the airport, to the unexpected free rolling down the rails of a train engine without an engineer, to the heartbreaking loss of a young pet to cancer, or the lustful expose of a young Spaniard who revealed her bodily beauty to the pleasure of a middle-aged man in a sidewalk café in Madrid, to the author’s visionary mind that unfolds a triptych of short stories, under the heading 2096 CE, that explore how a future society may live and how various segments of it may exist in isolation from one another toward the end of the current century, Manolis Aligizakis, the most prolific author, poet, and translator of the diaspora, paints a kaleidoscopic canvas of images to the delight of readers who discover an ensemble of life snapshots in an intricate display of colour and emotion found in this collection of short stories titled “Straits and Turns”. A delight to the eyes of the eclectic reader. A good read for all.
