Born on Tyneside , Kenneth Dodds studied History at Leicester and Durham Universities. He taught in four secondary schools in the North of England and two in the West of Scotland. Retiring from a headship, he concentrated on part-time teaching Spanish to adults as well as researching and writing history. In 2001 he published a non-fi ction work "Western Designs: A History of the British in Central America". From 2008 he has visited North West Ireland each year and joined the County Donegal History Association, publishing three articles in its annuals. "The Stranded Tribe" is his fi rst work of fi ction.
