Stranger Danger (1) (Mr. Mensch and His Magical Meshugenahmob)

On the first day of Sunday School, six good friends walk into the classroom to find a stranger—a girl with big, black, curly hair sitting at one of the desks. Without giving her much thought, and ignoring the worried look in her eyes, they send her away to find a different class. But what's even stranger to them is their new teacher, Mr. Mensch, who is dressed up like the Statue of Liberty! Mr. Mensch takes the kids on a whirlwind adventure aboard his magical Meshugenahmobile, all the way back to 1903, a time when immigrants arrived to the shores of New York in waves, to unwelcoming crowds. A book for readers of all backgrounds, this is a story about the true meaning of being welcoming to others.
